Weekend Fun

The weekends are something I look forward to very much as it's when I get to spend time with Mr H. Monday to Friday he's married to his job, come Saturday and Sunday, he's mine again! Last weekend was a bank holiday in the UK (so we had Monday together too) and we decided to head to beautiful Devon with the tent (it's been a while since we used it). I thought I'd share a few pictures from our trip on my blog today.

We live in Wales so it was a couple of hours drive, but the traffic was fine and we stopped for lunch in a very sweet little village along the way. I got the feeling the landlord had come to the end of his tether when it came to patrons playing with the large fire he had set in an inglenook (it wasn't lit when we were there as it was warm) because he'd chalked up this sign next to it.

There was also a sign in the garden that read 'Unsupervised children will be given an espresso and a free kitten' LOL. I have to say, though, I admired the long table we sat at which had been decorated by carving horses and hounds into it.

We pitched our little tent at the top of a hill, the view was pretty awesome even if it was getting late in the day by the time we'd gotten organised. A few clouds were gathering, and it did rain a little in the night. But we were warm and dry so that didn't matter.

The next day we were up and about early (a local cockerel helped with that) and headed off to Canonteign Falls - Englan's highest! We'd never been before, and because we arrived so early had it all to ourselves for the first hour or so. I was truly magical with a secret fern garden, Victorian steps, black swans and fairies. You do have to have the right shoes on and be reasonably fit to get to the top though.

View from the top.

Fairy!

The Fern Garden (over 200 varieties, who knew?)

Victorian Steps (quite slippery)

A family of fake deer (no ideer why?)

Bees - lots of them!

A new little friend I made.

Finally, cream tea before the journey home. Thank you for reading, and do share any Devon memories/adventures you've had in the comments below.
