Guest Blogger - Tabitha Rayne

Please extend a super warm welcome to my wonderful friend Tabitha Rayne who has dropped by today...

Craft and craft (and half a carafe?)

Hello! I’m delighted to be here at Lovely Lily’s place today. We met at Eroticon where writers and bloggers who specialise writing about the awesome subject of sex can share a whole weekend dedicated to their craft.

I always thought I’d be a painter, but got frustrated when the pictures I made didn’t match those in my head. With erotica, I feel I can match the words exactly to what I see – and that’s why I love it so much – it can be very satisfying when a scene works out like that.

While writing is my first love, I still enjoy making and crafting things. When I was editing my novel, A Clockwork Butterfly, I really wanted to actually make one – it is quite a big character in the book and I wanted to bring it alive in my physical world. So I got a wind up watch of my grandfather’s and took it apart... have you ever done that? Wow, there’s a lot of stuff inside those tiny cases! I thought, well, if it doesn’t work, I can put it back together... um, no Tabitha, you most certainly cannot! Springs, cogs whirly bits and screws went flying everywhere – it was fantastic fun. So I fixed the bits altogether and made the wings from a drinks can. There’s a tiny flash of it in the book trailer, not a lot, but never mind, it was great fun to make.

A Clockwork Butterfly is the first book I wrote as part of my erotic dystopian fantasy trilogy, The Meeting Point.  It will be one year old in July. ONE YEAR OLD! I simply can’t believe it. I’m waiting for the prequel, Taking Flight to come out in July... I can’t wait to see what the cover will look like.

Another thing I enjoy is a good party – so I’ll be celebrating my book’s first birthday with a big ol’ glass of bubbly wishing Miss Lily Harlem was chinking glasses with me.

So as I gear up for my little party in my writing shed, here’s a wee snippet to get you in the mood for some sexy dystopian trilogy action.... Thanks for having me over Lily! X x x

Excerpt

Lena picked up the copper butterfly carefully in her fingertips. It was exquisite, and she never tired of studying Angelo’s craftsmanship. It gently, as if it were real, flapped its wings to reveal a new delicate carving on them.
“What’s this?” She sat up, tucking her legs underneath her, and tried to coax them open again. Angelo was smiling beside her.
“Touch the proboscis.” He motioned and Lena reached out to the feathery spiral. As her fingertip made contact, the wings opened again and rested there for her to see the new artwork. In the most intricate script were carved the words I love you.
Lena didn’t quite know what to do, say, or think until Angelo lifted the butterfly from her and tossed it up in the air, then pushed her on to her back, showering her with ferocious kisses. She watched the tiny creature flutter this way and that around the room while her body melted into Angelo’s embrace.
“I want to eat you up, ravish you, and come inside you,” said Angelo into her peaking flesh. When he was working her with his agile tongue, her entire skin became erogenous and she could barely think for the pleasure. Stars twinkled and burst wherever he kissed and Lena wriggled as his teeth joined in, raking her flesh and arousing every part of her.

Blurb:

Lovers torn apart by duty…will Angelo and Lena be reunited?

Mankind is close to extinction. Toxins have all but wiped out the male population. The remaining fertile men are housed in manors where their seed is collected.

Lena Lee is a new collector with a rare pheromone believed to reignite human fertility. She's assigned a male who's predicted to be her perfect match.

Angelo, a clockwork butterfly maker, is held captive, his essence harvested daily by Lena. Over time, the couple begins to fall in love, something which is strictly prohibited. When their forbidden love is discovered, Lena is banished from the manor.

Torn apart by the duty that brought them together, Lena and Angelo must find a way back to each other. But even if Angelo manages to escape, he doesn't know where to find Lena. Will following the path of the clockwork butterfly lead him to his true love?
