An exciting new event is coming to Tiverton, Mid-Devon this June.
From 3rd-7th of June Tiverton is
hosting its very first literary festival.
Featuring great names in writing- including bestselling
authors Michael Jecks, Simon Hall (BBC SW News), Nicola Upton, Veronica Henry,
Cal Moriarty, Julie Cohen, Karen
Maitland, and many more.
A celebration of all that is good about books, reading and
writing, the event will include a crime writers’ panel, a romance writers’
panel, a combined fiction panel, a variety of writing workshops for both
children and adults, along with readings, book signings, school visits, a
children’s story telling trail, a literary family quiz, and a chance to buy
books at each event and from the town’s CreaTiv Hub (Fore Street)
We would love as much promotion as possible to help make
Tiverton Literary Festival a success, and ensure it becomes an annual event we
can be proud of. If you would like more details, or you wish to talk to myself
or any of my colleagues (Sue Griggs and Kerstin Muggeridge), about the event,
then please drop an email to info@tivlitfest.co.uk
You can view all the events and buy tickets via our web
site- www.tivlitfest.co.uk
Cupcakes
and Romance Panel
Intro
I will welcome the audience and introduce each of you with a
quick bio.
c.25
mins of panel chat
What makes a story a romance? (We’ve all been labelled as
romance authors- is that correct, or are we contemporary/historical fiction
writers, that happen to include romantic situations?)
Are you a romantic writer, or simply a writer who includes
romance?
3-5 min
reading from Julie
Do you prefer/are you more comfortable with writing
contemporary or historical fiction?
What is your starting point for a book? – location,
character name, song lyric etc
How important is location to you? Can you set a story in a
place you’ve never been to?
The importance of a good title and cover?
3-5 min
reading from Alison
How much of yourselves are in your books?
Do you think you are harder to please as a reader now that
you write your own stories, and you know how difficult it is to write a book?
(Obviously this is a lose situation, and it will depend on
how much we say and audience interest if we expand on what’s said here)
Break – 15mins coffee/tea/signings/book sales
(Brendon Books will be there to provide sale books)
Audience
Q/A
If audience quiet, we’ll go with-
Your own favourite books of all you’ve written/that you’ve
read by others
If you could have invented a character written by someone
else, who would you pick?
Your favourite part of the writing process/ do you have a
routine when you write?
Final 3-5
min reading from either myself or Rachel- not panic Rachel, I won’t make you
read if you don’t fancy it.
Conclusion
I will give you the chance to tell everyone about your
latest work, and what e can expect from you next.
More sales/signings – FOOD AND WINE!!!
Thanks,
Jen xxx
