Hockey Romance Authors

Cassandra Carr is a multi-award winning romance writer. When not writing she enjoys watching hockey and hanging out online. Cassandra's books have won numerous "Best Book Of" awards and her novella Unexpected Top was nominated in the E-book Erotic Romance category of RT's Reviewers' Choice Awards.

She thinks the best part of being a writer is how she writes about love and sex while most others struggle with daily commutes, micro-managing bosses and cranky co-workers. Her inspiration comes from everywhere, but she'd particularly like to thank the Buffalo Sabres, the hockey team near and dear to her heart.

An advocate of happy endings, Jami writes sexy romantic comedy, sports hero
romances, and equestrian fiction. Jami lives on a small farm near Puget
Sound with her Green Beret-turned-plumber husband, a Newfoundland cross with a tennis ball fetish, a prince disguised as an orange tabby cat, and an
opinionated Hanoverian mare.

Jami works in IT for her day job and is a former high school business
teacher and dressage rider. In her spare time, she maintains her small farm
and socializes whenever the opportunity presents itself. An avid boater,
Jami has spent countless hours in the San Juan Islands, a common setting in
her books. In her opinion, it is the most beautiful place on earth.

Catherine Gayle is a bestselling author of Regency-set historical romance and contemporary hockey romance with a New Adult feel. She’s a transplanted Texan living in North Carolina with two extremely spoiled felines. In her spare time, she watches way too much hockey and reality TV, plans fun things to do for the Nephew Monster’s next visit, and performs experiments in the kitchen which are rarely toxic.

Lily Harlem is an award-winning author of contemporary erotic romance. She lives with her husband in the UK and since leaving a career in nursing writes full time. She is published by houses on both sides of the Atlantic including Ellora’s Cave and HarperCollins and also self-publishes her work.

Her Hot Ice series regularly receives high praise and industry nominations and she’s never happier than when she’s dreaming up the next story for her bad-boy heroes of fictional hockey team the Vipers. Usually when writing she’s accompanied by a cat on her lap and a dog at her feet, both rescued from the shelter and constant companions.

Kelly Jamieson www.kellyjamieson.com

Kelly Jamieson lives in Winnipeg, Canada and is the bestselling author of over thirty romance novels and novellas. Her writing has been described as “emotionally complex”, “sweet and satisfying” and “blisteringly sexy”. If she can stop herself from reading or writing, she loves to cook. She has shelves of cookbooks that she reads at length. She also enjoys gardening in the summer, and in the winter she likes to read gardening magazines and seed catalogues (there might be a theme here...) She also loves shopping, especially for clothes and shoes.

V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, belly laughs, anything romantic, Greek mythology, New York Rangers hockey,  comic books and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a Brown Swiss steer named after a famous N.H.L. goalie, and a flock of assorted domestic fowl.

V.L. is a self-published and conventionally published multigenre erotic romance author. She admits to being in love with all the leading men in her To Love a Wildcat sports romance series, strumpet that she is. The first novel in the Wildcat series, Pink Pucks & Power Plays, is available now.

Toni Aleo is the author of the Nasvhille Assassins series.

When not rooting for her beloved Nashville Predators, she’s probably going to her husband’s and son’s hockey games and her daughter’s dance competitions, taking pictures, scrapbooking, or reading the latest romance novel. She lives in the Nashville area with her husband, two children, and a bulldog.

Suzan Butler http://suzanbutler.com

Suzan Butler is a romantic fiction author with a penchant for Dr. Pepper, ice hockey, and world domination.

She lives in Texas under a not-so-secret identity with two monsters, writing books and planning the next step in her evil plans into the twilight hours of the night because that’s when it’s quiet in the house.

Bianca Sommerland http://www.im-no-angel.com

Bianca Sommerland was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. When not reading neurotically or writing as though the fate of the world rests on her keyboard, she is either watching hockey or teaching her daughters the beauty of a classic, steel pony while reminiscing about her days in Auto Body Mechanics.

Her time is balanced with utmost care between normal family life, and the internal paranormal realm where her characters reside. For the most part, she succeeds.

Sports Romance Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sports Romance Blog Hop and a HUGE thanks to Cassandra Carr for sponsoring the hop!

Most people who are familiar with my writing will be aware that I have a real soft spot for sexy athletes. What with my Hot Ice series, Scored and Grand Slam I've covered hockey, football (soccer to you US folk) and tennis!

But what is it about sporty guys that gets us girls (and boys) going? Is it those short shorts and tight tops that show off all their roped muscles and golden flesh. Mmm…

To an extent, yes, but it’s more than that, really it is (see we're not that shallow!). To be the best-of-the-best these athletes are loaded with testosterone (I’m talking the natural stuff, nothing injected) and that makes them a wonderful treat for every sense. Plus they posses such supreme fitness and awe-inspiring stamina that it’s impossible not to think of their blessedly buff bodies between the sheets.

However, for me, as an author, it's the athletes' psych that really grabs my attention. Their unwavering competitive streak, single-minded focus and the thought of ‘if they’re that obsessed with being the best, of winning and scoring, when they're on the pitch, the stadium or the rink what the hell would they be like in bed?’ ‘Off the chart amazing,’ my inner voice shouts. ‘You’ll feel like you’ve won the damn Olympic gold medal in ecstasy’.

Talking of Olympics I’m looking forward to the action from Russia, none more so than the ice hockey. My latest release, out last week at Ellora's Cave is Misconduct, the 6th book following the Vipers hockey team and the women who tame them - also perfect as a standalone read.

I’ll confess I’ve never had wild, swing-from-the-chandelier-sex with a professional sportsman, but I do have a pretty damn vivid imagination! I live in the UK and our most famous sporting export of recent years is of course the delectable David Beckham!

And it was his modelling for Armani that gave me the idea for High-Sticked, the m/m novel in my Hot Ice series.

But we have a few other hotties in the UK which I thought I’d share. Why not? It’s cold outside and we have to keep warm somehow! This is boxer Joe Calzaghie, he’s Welsh (YAY!).

He is seriously hot and a seriously nice guy too. I was lucky enough to meet him once – swoon! – and I had to be picked up off the floor when my knees gave way. His voice is all deep and lilting, one side of his mouth twitches when he smiles and his eyes sparkle with a confident naughtiness. He’s like a great big vat of sin which would be so heavenly to jump into! Damn – missed my opportunity by becoming a boneless heap!

I should also mention Johnny Wilkinson, this guy scored the winning point for England in the Rugby World Cup Final despite having dislocated his shoulder minutes earlier in an evil tackle – ouch!! Now that is man on a mission, a man with unwavering self-control. Can you imagine…?

Of course there are supremely gorgeous and talented sportsmen the world over both in reality and in authors' imaginations. And as long as readers keep enjoying sexy athletes in books then I’ll keep on writing about them. If you leave a comment here telling me what your favourite sport is I'll give away a copy of Hired (book #1 Hot Ice) to one commentor drawn at random - please leave your email address.

Sunday Snog - Misconduct

OUT NOW - MISCONDUCT

Finally, the 6th Hot Ice book, Misconduct, has hit the shelves (all Hot Ice novels are fine as standalone reads). I loved writing this book, the Vipers goaltender was hot to handle for me as an author so my heroine Gina really did have her work cut out with him - just as well she's his new boss!

So here it is, a steamy snog between Dustin 'Speed' Reed and Gina Gunner…

“Dustin, no, we can’t do this. Not here, not now.”
He licked his lips, leaving a wet sheen there that captured my attention. “We can. Come on, what do you want?”
I shook my head, licked my own lips. I couldn’t bring myself to say it. But the truth was I didn’t want him at all because the team couldn’t afford him. Not on his current exorbitant salary anyway. God knows what my father had been thinking when he’d agreed to that. He must have been on the whiskey or something.
I looked out to sea, watched a lone gull swoop across the surface of a crashing wave.
“Tell me,” he said again, pulling me closer still.
My breasts came into contact with his chest. A dart of longing went through me like it had in New York when he’d kissed me. How did he do that, when he was so damn furious with me it just made me want to get closer to him, physically that was. Sense told me I should run, get the hell away, but I couldn’t. I didn’t want to.
“This won’t work,” I said.
“Why not?’
“Because I…I don’t want you.” I pressed my hands on his dense pectoral muscles, stared up at him.
“Why not?”
“The state I’ve inherited the team in is…” I stopped myself. I really couldn’t go into all the financial details with a player. That wasn’t fair, nor ethical. Not when I hadn’t had a chance to hash it out with Dad yet.
“The state you’ve inherited the team in?” He spoke with a guttural quality to his voice, as though he’d mixed gravel with the words.
“I can’t discuss it. You’ll just have to accept the decision.”
His nostrils flared and his lips flattened. “You mean that, don’t you? You really don’t have any intention of renewing my contract.” He paused. “Shit.”
God, I hated to see pain in his eyes. He clearly loved playing for the Vipers. And who could blame him? It was every hockey players’ dream come true.
I slipped my hands higher onto the base of his neck and rubbed the taut tendons there with my thumbs. “I wish I did want you,” I whispered.
Oh, what a lie. Because I did, just not for the team. His body, pressing against mine, the smell of his slightly malty breath and the way he was eating me up with his gaze. It all made me want him very much. In my bed.
Suddenly he snapped me tight against him, wrapped his arms around my waist and set me flush against his body.
“And I wish I didn’t fucking want you,” he said, his jaw tightening, the syllables seeming to struggle to get out from between his gritted teeth.
He wished he didn’t want me? Those words ping-ponged around my mind. What did he mean? That he did want me, the way I wanted him, even though it made no sense?
I went up on my toes and cradled the back of his head. I stared into his eyes, looking for answers. His pupils were wide despite the sunshine, and desire flamed within them. Yes, I’d been right, he did want me, exactly the same way I had to have him. Now.
I kissed him. With the same furious passion he’d inflicted on me in the hotel. For a horrendous moment I thought I’d made a God almighty mistake—his lips were still, his tongue flat. But then he melted, opened up and let me in.
He groaned, dipped his tongue into my mouth and slid his hand up my back to my hair, bunching his fingers in my casual updo.
Like before, his kiss transported me to a wild place where anything could happen. I writhed against him and was aware of his cock hardening against my stomach. It thrilled me that he was turned-on by me. Big, tough Dustin was hot for a bit of action with little old me. Bring it on.
“Fuck,” he muttered against my lips.
“Okay,” I gasped.

Weekend Writing Warriors #WeWrWa - Misconduct by Lily Harlem (NEW HOT ICE RELEASE)

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, here's 8 from my latest Hot Ice release, Misconduct. Gina, the new owner of the Vipers, is giving the team a pre-game pep talk in the locker room, but it's not going quite how she planned…

“Keep your eye on the game, right.”

“As opposed to keeping my eye on what?” Dustin asked, gnawing at his gum. He grinned slow and lazy, and dipped his gaze down my body, lingering on my breasts, the flare of my hips, my wickedly high stilettos.

The barefaced nerve of him! Didn’t he get that I was paying his wages now? I wasn’t some rink bunny here for him to ogle.

“Are you gonna be out there?” he asked, shifting some of the enormous padding in his groin area.

I tilted my chin. “Of course.”

He grinned, showing his teeth, the right incisor was chipped. “Then I’m gonna have a hard time keeping my eye on the puck, sweet cheeks.”

Sweet cheeks!
