Tiverton Literary Festival

An exciting new event is coming to Tiverton, Mid-Devon this June.

From 3rd-7th of June Tiverton is hosting its very first literary festival.

Featuring great names in writing- including bestselling authors Michael Jecks, Simon Hall (BBC SW News), Nicola Upton, Veronica Henry, Cal Moriarty,  Julie Cohen, Karen Maitland, and many more.

A celebration of all that is good about books, reading and writing, the event will include a crime writers’ panel, a romance writers’ panel, a combined fiction panel, a variety of writing workshops for both children and adults, along with readings, book signings, school visits, a children’s story telling trail, a literary family quiz, and a chance to buy books at each event and from the town’s CreaTiv Hub (Fore Street)

We would love as much promotion as possible to help make Tiverton Literary Festival a success, and ensure it becomes an annual event we can be proud of. If you would like more details, or you wish to talk to myself or any of my colleagues (Sue Griggs and Kerstin Muggeridge), about the event, then please drop an email to info@tivlitfest.co.uk

Cupcakes and Romance Panel

Intro
I will welcome the audience and introduce each of you with a quick bio.

c.25 mins of panel chat
What makes a story a romance? (We’ve all been labelled as romance authors- is that correct, or are we contemporary/historical fiction writers, that happen to include romantic situations?)
Are you a romantic writer, or simply a writer who includes romance?

3-5 min reading from Julie
Do you prefer/are you more comfortable with writing contemporary or historical fiction?
What is your starting point for a book? – location, character name, song lyric etc
How important is location to you? Can you set a story in a place you’ve never been to?
The importance of a good title and cover?

3-5 min reading from Alison
How much of yourselves are in your books?
Do you think you are harder to please as a reader now that you write your own stories, and you know how difficult it is to write a book?
(Obviously this is a lose situation, and it will depend on how much we say and audience interest if we expand on what’s said here)

Sunday Snog

Welcome to Sunday Snog. This week a smooch from Dr Leo and his dream man Malik - Dark Warrior.

Back Cover information

While some passions live on the surface, others—wilder, darker passions—have to be kept buried deep.

Dr. Leo Rotherham is following his calling by working in rural Kenya for the charity Medics On Hand. While he expected a primitive way of life and limited medical supplies, what he doesn’t bargain on is falling for handsome village warrior, Malik.

Malik is well respected, knowledgeable and loyal to his tribe. He’s also beautiful, brave, modern and, much to Leo’s dismay, married—isn’t he?

No, it turns out Malik is as free as the animals that roam the African plains at night.

Soon the tension is building between the two men and Leo isn’t sure if he’s coming or going. Whenever he’s around Malik he can’t help but notice the reflected look of lust in his eyes and feel the longing sizzling between them.

Malik stands too close, not close enough. Forbidden attraction simmers between them and the need grows to dizzying heights. But dare they admit to each other what it is they want? And are they brave enough to act on their desires and be honest about their lust? One thing is for sure, a passion this big, this powerful, can’t be contained and it’s all going to explode in the most spectacular of ways.

The water was cold, as Malik had warned, but Leo was glad of the refreshing sensation that lapped around him as he waded into it. He studied the way the sun reflected off Malik’s dark shoulders, making his flesh seem almost mirror-like. He’d have to remember to put more protection on his delicate skin soon, especially if he was going to spend the afternoon naked.
Malik turned, released Leo’s hand and dipped his shoulders into the water. He then pushed off and floated on his back, staring up at the sky.
Leo dunked himself completely under, scrubbing at his face with his palm while he was beneath the surface. The sound of the water echoed in his ears and his heart was still pounding. Thankfully, the chill had taken the edge off his erection and the need to come had abated.
“You like?” Malik asked when Leo surfaced.
“It’s heavenly.” Leo turned onto his back and let the water support him. “And the sky is so perfect.” He studied the crystal-clear azure. The sun was just out of his line of vision but he could see the white heat spreading like an artist’s wash over the sky.
His cock breached the surface of the water and he turned, took several fast strokes and reached the opposite side of the bank.
Malik had swum toward the reeds, his body mostly submerged, as though he preferred to swim like a crocodile.
A shudder of desire filled Leo. He wanted Malik—and soon. He hoped he was quick at recovering.
Malik dove downwards and his whole body disappeared. Leo stared, waiting for him to resurface.
Several bubbles popped and spread small ripples.
A knot of worry wound itself through Leo.
He’d been down a long time.
More bubbles then nothing.
Leo stood, trying to see clearer, but the section of water Malik had disappeared into was the darkest patch of the river. Possibly twenty feet deep. He couldn’t make out a thing.
Leo was unable to wait any longer. He lunged forward and headed for the reeds, thrusting out his arms in long, powerful strokes. He’d have to go down and find him. Horrendous images went through his mind. Perhaps he had his foot trapped in a rock or a savage creature was attacking him.
Suddenly, right in front of Leo, Malik burst from the water. He took in a huge breath and grinned.
“Fuck,” Leo said, coming to an abrupt stop. “You scared the shit out of me.”
“What? Why?”
“Going under for all that time.”
“I wasn’t under long. I was just checking my nets.”
“Nets?”
“Yes. I have captured us some dinner, for tonight.” He held up a black stringy bag that contained two writhing silver fish.
Leo grinned. “Looks good.” He pushed backward, moving to the bank where he could stand.
“They will be. I will cook them for you,” Malik said, following.
Once at the bank, Malik tied the fish bag to a twisted root so that the creatures were still in the water. “They will stay fresh like this. Until we have built up our appetite again.”
“Mmm, I think we should start working on that soon.” Leo could stand now and the water sat at his waist. The sun on his wet skin tingled and he relished feeling cool for the first time all day.
“I agree,” Malik said, coming to stand next to him. “In fact, I think we should start right now.” He leaned forward and kissed Leo—a long, deep kiss that included lots of tongue and a close cuddle.
Leo’s cock pressed up against Malik’s abdomen. Just contact with his flesh, even in the cold water, had blood rushing to Leo’s shaft. God, he needed this man.
Malik slid his hand between their bodies and wrapped his fingers around Leo’s erection.
Leo broke the kiss. “Damn, I love you touching me. Every time feels like the first time.” “That was hot. That first time, in your room. I had to detour on the way home.”
“You did?” Leo moved his hips in time with the slow, steady rub of Malik’s hand on his cock.
“Yeah, I had to find a quiet spot and relieve myself. My dick was about to explode.” “And you thought of me?” Leo asked, struggling now not to flutter his eyes shut. The sensation of Malik’s hand on him in the water was blissful—enough to turn him on but not enough to have him coming.
“Of course I thought of you. You’re all I have thought of, Leo, since the first moment I saw you.”

Saturday Spankings

Welcome to Saturday Spankings. Here's a swift slap from my new MM novel Dark Warrior.

“You want me,” Malik said. He grinned in a way that oozed sexual prowess and his eyelids became heavy.
“Yes.” Leo felt dizzy with lust, his thoughts on one-track only—fucking. It was all that could happen next, if it didn’t he’d go mad. “Now. Fuck me now.”
“Demanding white man, aren’t you?”
In a sudden, brisk movement, Malik spun Leo around.
Leo grunted as Malik tipped him onto the bed. He supported himself on his hands with his arse in the air and feet on the floor. He wished he didn’t have the ugly healing stings on his back, but that couldn’t be helped and besides, Malik didn’t seem to mind.
A hard slap landed on his left buttock. “You know what demanding gets you, don’t you, Doctor?”
“What?” Leo asked gruffly. The smack had created a burning sensation on his arse that sent delicious tingles spreading outward over his flesh.
“Everything.”

Sunday, May 24, 2015 A Sexy Delight ~ @MySexySaturday #MySexySaturday #Saturday7 #MSSAuthors

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday. This weeks' theme is a sexy delight so here are a few from Dark Warrior my new MM novel just out and set in Kenya.

The view from their shelter was stunning, something he’d remember always—the clear blue sky, the sand colored cliffs surrounding them and the sparkling river. And Malik sitting next to him... Beautiful, sexy Malik and a whole night stretched out before them. It was a fantasy come true. The anticipation alone was an erotic memory and something he was happy to savor rather than rush to the main event, now that they were here.
“Food.” Malik passed Leo a plate created from a glossy green leaf.
“Fish?” Leo studied the golden flakes of flesh. “Thank you.”
“It is smoked. It is good. Try it.”
Leo already was. A burst of flavor spread on his tongue—woody yet delicate. He chewed through the softness and was eager for more.
Malik laughed. “You were hungry.”
“Yes, starving,” Leo said with a grin and scooped up another mouthful.
They ate in silence. Leo sipped on the last of the water from his bottle and watched a small bird, with a long Y-shaped tail, flitting about in the reeds. When he’d finished, he set the leaf-plate to one side. “Thank you, Malik. That was wonderful.”
Malik nodded once and glanced at the empty plate. “I am glad.”
Leo stood, pulled off his top then folded it over the upper edge of the canopy, hoping that would discourage any slithering creatures from making it their home. As he turned to sit, he noticed the lingering gaze Malik gave his body.
He sucked in his stomach a little, knowing it highlighted his abs, and enjoyed a rush of blood to his cock. Finally. They were alone. Alone, fed and with all the privacy they could ever hope for.

Cougar!

Toy Boy is out on general release next week which I'm very excited about (though you can grab an early download from the publisher now). It's a steamy older woman younger man short novel. I also have a 'cougar' story in the anthology Cougar "Pawn Shop" - check it out, I'm nestled in these pages with some awesome authors including Primula Bond and Elizabeth Coldwell.

Berets and Bras

Berets and Bras is out now! It's a short MF military story published by Coming Together and part of their Tabooty line  - all proceeds got to charity (National Coalition for Sexual Freedom).

It was previously published by Silver (several years ago) but it's been updated, given a new cover and I hope it sells well and does good for the charity while the characters are being oh, so deliciously bad!

There’s undercover and then there’s seriously undercover. When Carol decides to become Carl in order to fulfil her dreams as a missionary she doesn’t count on falling for a hunky fellow soldier. But will she risk everything when she sees a flash of desire in his eyes and will coming clean mean getting down and dirty?

Only she finds what she’d pushed to the back of her mind through selfish pain is back. Her past with all its mistakes has come back to life!

Excerpt Calvin Edwards

Calvin had no idea what the hell he was doing! He walked into the car park pondering whether he should call the police, longing for someone else to take over the extensive mess, he’d somehow found himself in. He reached into his jeans pocket for his mobile phone, contemplating to call the police and have her picked up, get her some serious help, but he feared for her and the baby, and what would happen to them?
There was something in his mind calling out to him to help her. He saw his car and debated to climb in it and drive away as fast as he could, leaving the woman, leave her to deal with her own mess she had created. Clearly, she had been shameless, otherwise why would her parents turn their back on her, especially carrying a baby, but listening to what she had to say and how she got involved with a bad crowd, that could be enough to course any family break-up, or had she twisted the story about her parents to get sympathy?
He felt sick, there was no-way he could take her back to his parents’ place, no-way on this God’s living earth, she would take one look at the hall and see pound signs and lavish in his lifestyle and there was no-way he was going to be brought into her having his wallet, hell, he had learned that over the years, being used and abused for his assets. Yes, his family were wealthy. Yes, they ran a hall and several businesses. Yes, he had the lifestyle many people would dream about, but he never took it for granted.
Ok, Calvin told a few white lies, he wasn’t living with anyone or had flatmates back in London, he owned the place out-right, worth millions, but wasn’t about to admit that. He lied about not owning the car and about going to prison, the nearest he’d been to the building was a school trip having a guided tour, that was it. He never considered himself being a swot, but he was brought up to respect people, their values, views, and lifestyles and clearly Kacey had some really serious issues on these.
He walked over to his BMW and leaned against the front wing, folding his arms across his chest, wondering what to do. He took a deep breath. His mind was all over the place, searching for answers. If he couldn’t take her back home and she certainly wasn’t welcome at her parents’ house, what would be the next option? He rubbed his chin and rolled his tongue over his teeth, thinking hard.

Kacey Richards

While she stood, waiting for her mum to finally show her face, things had changed drastically for her from being the prim and proper young girl into a woman who had no respect, lost her elegance, rough with no courteous or any thought for others, until getting shit on herself. Well, who really gave a fuck? The only time people helped you was when they needed something in return, hell I learned the hard way, like always!
The door opened and her mother stood before her, glaring at her like she was dirt.
“And what do I now owe the honor for this time?” she asked sarcastically lifting her brows. “We have discussed all that we needed to yesterday, now leave us alone,” she growled.
“Please, Mum. I need you.”
Her mum was about to shut the door when Kacey quickly jammed her foot into the frame. “Please. I am so sorry for all the trouble I have caused but I have nothing and I mean nothing,” she pleaded.
“Well, you should have thought about that before spreading your legs and getting yourself in such condition.”
“Please, I never intended for this to happen and you cannot blame the innocent child I’m carrying.”
“I’m not blaming the child. I’m blaming you,” she said cut throat.
“Fine. I understand that. But please we need your help.”
“You need my money more like. Do you think I am stupid? You’re going to rob us blind and run back to whatever trouble you are in,” she said thinning her eyes.
“No. I…we have finished. He wants nothing to do with me and this little one,” she said rubbing her tummy and glanced down, scrunching up her nose. Never had she felt so alone.
“I need somewhere for me to be safe.” Kacey lifted her head, gazing deeply into her mother’s harsh eyes, really needing her mum to stop being stubborn, after all it was Kacey who had the problem with her parents, not the baby. Then thinking about it she had disgraced the family.
“Look, I am sorry for disappearing all those years ago,” she said, keeping her foot lodged in the way as her mum attempted to close the door again.
